Heading up to share The Whole Association video to the families in the caves!
Marilyn setting the stage for the video!
Jason getting the video started!
One of the families! Mom, Dad, and little brother!
And big brother!
She told me their names but I couldn't hardly pronounce them and certainly can't spell them:)
Jude and Jeremiah got to share a couple Caleb videos with the two little boys!
And this is Lala! Her and her husband and their 3 children live in the caves also. Her children are 17, 15, and 9. They have nothing truly, they have this little stand set up at Boca del Diablo where very few tourists get a chance to go to and the first time we went I didn't even notice the little stand. But she's got some nice little jewelry things and little stuff.
But she studies with Marilyn whenever Marilyn can catch her, but she works as much as possible for obvious reasons but every time we've gone down there I give her some sort of literature for Marilyn and Lala loves it!
She is always very good and kind to my family, helping us get to good viewing spots to see the whales, which we saw a lot of this day, and we've bought little things from her there.
But on this day when we pulled up she was back cooking and she waves and says "hello Jennifer":0
I couldn't believe she knew/remembered my name!
Then she started showing me what she is cooking and letting me and Natalie try her beans - YUM.
These are beans they completely harvest themselves. From plant to plate!
Then she grabs a bowl of WHOLE (eyeballs, tail, skin, everything) of cooked fish and tells me they are sardines (but they are bigger than sardines I see at home) and insists that I take and eat!!
I just can't believe this woman and mother of 3 who lives in a cave with no water or electricity and no means of consistent income, if any, is being so generous to me....so of course I have to eat it!!
So I take a deal breathe ask for instructions on how to eat a whole cooked (tiny) fish, she shows me and I take a bite. And it was amazing! It really was. Absolutely no fish taste what so ever, chrisp like it had been deep fried, but I certainly didn't see any oil way down there at the end of the world and in the middle of no where.
Everybody tried it, and liked it, and she kept insisting that we take more!
Then a couple of the girls asked to buy a coconut, it was $1. I think 3 people wanted one so she chopped away at it and we bought 3 and she just kept having her husband go get more and insisting that everyone have one (not charging, even turning Jude's money down) saying "for you" "for you esposso" THEN she has her husband get another different kind of coconut and she chops and chops and chops away at it until it is just the very small center then cuts it up and gives it all to us to EAT. So there are green coconuts for coconut water (which we don't love) and brown coconuts for the white flesh for eating! Which is SOOOO good!
And she just wanted to share it with us.
Then the girls all bought a few little gifts and she GIVES each of my boys a necklace (a manly one).
This is this families only means of living and she is just giving it to us, I know it is because of Marilyn and their studies and her appreciation for Jehovah and all he does for her. I've seen a a few people down there here and there, and they don't talk to her and she doesn't talk to them, so I know she is being generous because she loves Jehovah's people!
So before we left I insisted on her taking some money, which she first refused. The she told Jude and I all she wants is for us to pray for her and she started crying....so then of course I started crying! And we promised her we would.
She knew we were leaving for home but I told her we are trying to come back next year and we will most definitely come to see her then....and bring her 9 year old a a school bag, as that is something she needs!
Wow!
I will break this up because it is the middle of the night and I need to go to bed!!
More pics of the caves and Lala to come!
